How to All-Inclusive in Los Cabos, Mexico
I enjoy all types of travel; backpacking, group tours, solo trips, luxury and all-inclusive. I think each has their own things to offer, and sometimes I feel like one or the other. Hence why I like to mix it up.
So for this travel mix up it was a trip down to Los Cabos, Mexico to stay at Paradisus Los Cabos. A chance to explore their newly renovated property, and enjoy a bit of Valentine’s Day celebrations with my boyfriend.
Pool
Now there are two pools, the main one for all guests plus a private one for the Royal Service VIP guests (which is basically their more premium service that offers several extras and services).
Next are these…. I guess you can call them eggs? They do fit two people in them and they are literally the most chill thing ever, just sit back and become one with the egg… or pod, I guess that’s a better name.
Bars + Drinks
I truly do love swim up bars, although in this trip I never actually took full advantage of it. But just look at this beauty!

So we got to participate in a mixology class down at the beach where I learnt to mix up a few, and I definitely mean a few of these Sexy Lemonade cocktails.

I think that was it… I really should’ve taken notes but I didn’t want to let my hard work go to waste.
Food
Being a Vegan can be tricky because there are a lot of things I can’t and don’t eat. Buffets are very hit or miss, because while you can choose from a variety of items, if many items are not vegan, than there really isn’t much of a variety, at least for me.
So I was very please to have multiple options to choose from, which I think for me with all-inclusives, are a huge selling point.
Breakfast at La Palapa, which was the exclusive Royal Service VIP restaurant.
Lunch at the Gabi Club, perfect for overlooking the ocean and the beach, while still not actually being on the beach.
Dinner at Gastro Bar by Chef Martin Berasategui, a seven star Michelin Chef.
Beach
Now when it comes to resorts, hotels, etc, and the debate between beaches vs pools I always choose the beach! It’s my absolute favourite, connecting with nature, sand, salt, sun. Does it get much better? Well this beach didn’t disappoint, considering it’s the west coast and most is rocky and wild! However, there was a small sheltered section of the beach which allowed for a bit more chill swimming. I spent a whole afternoon on this beach and I could have easily spent a few more.
Room
Bright, white and light. A very modern clean style, and comfortable bed to sleep on.
All in all, I had a wonderful little Valentine’s Day getaway weekend stay here in Mexico and my first time in Los Cabos. Relaxing, easy, peaceful everything I wanted out of an all-inclusive resort.

Whale Watching in Los Cabos
Los Cabos sits on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, which means it’s part of the west coast and the Pacific Ocean. One of the benefits of staying on the west coast of Mexico is that unlike the east coast, you can go whale watching! When it’s winter in North America the whales migrate down the coast to Mexico to the warmer waters to feed, breed and chill. So Dec-April is the best time to see them, which means February when I went, was prime whale time.
In Los Cabos I was staying at the newly renovated Paradisus Los Cabos Resort . Being the adventurer I am, whale watching was going to be a 1/2 day excursion I wasn’t going to miss out on! Organized through the resort, we arrived at our 9:30am shuttle to take us to the main marina in Cabos San Lucas, about a 20-30 minute drive from the resort. There we grouped up onto our boats, got on out life jackets and headed out onto the water!
In the first bits of the harbour we cruised pass kayakers, stand-up paddle-boarders and scuba divers, zigging around the El Arco de Cabos San Lucas, aka the Arches of Cabos San Lucas! Then it was out onto the open ocean where the whale hunt was on!! (not literal hunt, but whale spotting)
Tip: Bundle up, aka bring a jacket because when you get onto the water, it can get windy!
Whale watching is intense! It’s not like you can call up a whale and ask it to nicely breach close and long enough for you to snap the photos you want. It’s more like a cat and mouse game played with all the other boats on the water via radio, all looking for the whales. Then when a boat finally does spot one that’s hopefully on the surface for long enough, it’s a mad rush to get over to where the whale is. Being on open ocean, this can be quite far. When you do eventually get there it then becomes the finger crossing game. Please don’t dive under whale! As I have my camera wrapped in a plastic bag, finger glue to the rapid fire shutter, hopefully pointing in the correct location of where I assume the whale will pop up.
But all of that is worth it when you choose correctly and get to see these giant Humpback Whales and Grey Whales breach right beside you, not once but 3 times. The rush of adrenaline you get and the sheer excitement of capturing that photo is still only part of the fun. The real deal is seeing the whales in person, these magnificent creatures live in the wild. Looking on with my own eyes and of course cameras.
After the whales dove down from our location it was back to the beach at the hotel, to sunbathe and reminisce on what a spectacular day I had on the west coast, in Cabo.
